Postal pickings

Wow- the postman gave me a lovely surprise yesterday morning.
I love the postman
Three packages! One is a little secret, but here are the others:

My sockapal2za socks from Siri
sockapal2za
They're an absolutely perfect fit, the yarn is divine and I LOVE the colours. Siri also added some olive Patons Kroy to help me expand my sock yarn stash. Thanks Siri! I'm so glad I joined in this swap.
(and I've also heard back from Gracie, who I sent socks to- I'm very pleased to hear that she thinks they're perfect!)

And something beautifully wrapped by Al
Package from Al
It's Mega Kitty #4, but I'm calling her Thomasina.
Mega kitty on the dresser
She's making herself at home amongst the collection of huon pine bowls on my dresser. She's so beautifully made, and I love the colours and fabric (the owls are super cute). It's so nice seeing her sitting there every day, reminding me of my wonderful friend Al.

swapping socks

Finally, after more knitting, some frogging, more knitting and two more kitchenered toes, my completed Sockapal2za socks met for the first time.

They knew instantly that they were made for eachother. The attraction was immediate and they eagerly inquired of eachother many intimate details.

They were totally compatible.

And shortly they will flee together to a far distant land, sharing their new life together, indulging in new friends, experiences and places that I expect I shall never know about- Socks aren't exactly known for their communication skills, and my swap pal hasn't responded to any of my emails either...

This is the thing with swaps- you never know what you're going to get with a secret swap. Will the other parties come through, or will they loose interest and leave you in the lurch? It's a risk of the whole swap thing. All I can do though is uphold my end of the swap bargain, and be selective in the swaps that I give my time, cash and energy to.

This was in the back of my mind when I decided to forgo Secret Pal and join in Rock Chick and Shobhana's BtPYK swap. Just a small group of us are swapping and it's been fun so far. I've sent one package off and I've just received some more sock goodness from my pal:

Secret swap
3 skeins of Regia silk sock yarn (wool, silk, polyamide mix) in a luscious chocolate brown, with matching reinforcing yarn, and a CD of a singer she's enjoying at the moment.

I'm so looking forward to knitting some socks with this stuff.
