chocolate coated cherries

well lookee here
The sewing machine has been running hot this week- I finally got around to making some cloth baby shoes. I've been meaning to try this for ages, and realised recently that if I don't do it really soon, then I won't have a little baby to make them for any more. I'll have a toddler.

I made these from some scraps that were sitting somewhere convenient, and looked quite delicious together. I was going to make them cherry red on the outside, but somewhere along the creative burst I had a little brain fart and cut holes in the wrong bits, so they're not- they're chocolate coated cherries instead. Delicious. And excitingly, they fit (no rips as yet...) and they stay on really well.

Vital Statistics:
Pattern: Cloth Baby Shoes from Stardust Shoes
Materials: Some dark chocolate brown pinwhale corduroy from Cutting Edge, and some stripy red cotton from Amitie.
Comments etc:
Well written pattern- it's really a pattern and tutorial rolled into one. I didn't have the suede stuff suggested for the sole, so I used a layer each of the other fabrics sandwiched with a layer of cotton knit for extra padding.

These were really, really easy to make, and highly addictive. I'd like to stop sleeping and make many, many more pairs in all different fabrics and colours. Realistically I'll maybe manage to make a couple more, but the hardest part will be deciding which fabrics to use. They're really the ideal finishing touch to any Urban Baby's outfit. I sent Baby C off for his first visit to the creche at my pool (I desperately need to get into some regular exercise...) wearing them, and received compliments on both the baby and the attire when I returned to collect him after my first (frantic and hard work) swim in months and months.
