...making spiders with the toddler.

To do:
cut up an egg carton, punch some holes with a metal skewer or knitting needle (best done out of toddler reach, taking care not to skewer yourself), insert pipe cleaner legs and bend as desired to make feet or knees and help them stand up, decorate further with textas as desired. We made some of these a while back and C was most interested in the texta part, but this time (he initiated the spider making fest) he was having fun threading the pipecleaners in, and then making a nest for them with all the spare pipe cleaners). Note- we found the brightly coloured pipe cleaners at the $2 shop, but the shorter ones were from Winterwood.
...watching seals at the Zoo, and wishing I could swim so effortlessly. Amazing new enclosure, and such beautiful creatures to watch- the fairy penguins and fiddle back rays were fun to watch too.

...picking up my sock knitting again, having frogged most of it last year.
...baking banana cake, with the recipe from my old bible, Stephanie Alexander's "Cook's Companion". I cut the sugar in the cake back to 1cup (instead of 1.5) and the topping is a must (although I substituted pecans for the walnuts called for). No cooking from the new bible this week.

... sewing an iPhone cosy, and then contemplating how to alter it so it will hold my ear buds too.

... sewing a cover for the sandpit, sewing miles of black shade cloth (a bit of a contrast to the Liberty I was shopping for that morning at Patchwork on Central Park.. Such an amazing range of patterns that Liberty make these days...)

...and various other things, including tinkering with my sidebar- adding new links, taking away my full blogroll and replacing it with a shorter list of inspiring blogs and other sites, changing the focus a little. I still have a few changes to make, but hope you find something new there of interest.
...have a good weekend!

What have you done??? I've been browsing on The Wool Shack... some Malabrigo will be coming my way shortly unless I can resist.... I .... Must.... resist....
ReplyDeleteahh, so lovely to see the ladybird fabric in action again. i used the last of the black and white print (as per C's apron and my quilt) to make three bath mats like in handmade home. that's three projects, no four actually, bc i appliqued it over a silly hallowe'en motif on a onesie too. all from one shower curtain - hooray!
ReplyDeleteso nice things to do with little - or meanwhile not sooo little C - he´s a real little man! great shirt!
ReplyDeletebut I really adore that Iphone sleeve!!!
Iphone is since a while in my mind, but here in Europe it´s kind of hm to much fashion... only very stylish people own one, and so if you want to see yourself as a "no- I do not follow every trend" guy, you better stick to Nokia or whatever - is that a kind of trend as well? is it cool just to say I want one, but that thing in such a supernice sleeve and that´s it? I really don´t know - anyway enjoy yours!
When I knitted and fulled my iPod cosy, I double-knitted a little pocket into the inside back of it to hold the earbuds. Works a treat (if I modestly say so myself!) ;)
ReplyDeleteAre C's specs dressups or the real deal?
Ha! Dress up only. Although I have seen some very colourful frames around lately - the 80's are back!
ReplyDeleteSorry about that.. Window shopping vs shopping via Windows !!
ReplyDeletePatchwork on Central Park is a block from my house, but I don't dare go in there...
