That's one item off my mental crafting-to-do list.
It was about time I sewed something for me. I developed an urge to wear a gingham shirt during summer. I pinned this one, and faved others I liked, contemplated pattern options (how to adapt patterns I had) and bought some fabric.
Last week I set to work, modifying the pattern from Stylish Dress Book that I used for this red shirt. I basically changed the front to omit the neckline gathers, and made it the correct length (something I wasn't happy about with the red shirt).
It's taken me a couple of wears to get over the feeling that I look like a tablecloth (it's a big, loose shirt, and there just seems to be so much fabric), but now I'm loving it as an extra winter layer, worn with my favourite winter boots and slim leg jeans.
I'm finding it very wearable.
Perhaps my new winter uniform?
I'd like to make at least one more.
Something other than gingham though.
Perhaps I need to stop by the Tessuti sale next week...
