I first heard about Clothkits from a friend when she blogged about them years ago. I liked the idea, but didn't feel the urge to try it out until I saw a great grey corduroy skirt made by another friend. And so when I got a tip-off on a sale a little while back I picked up a skirt for me, along with some pants for C and a dress for A.
In keeping with the "making stuff for me" theme of the last post I decided I needed a new skirt last week.
The kits come with EVERYTHING you need, right down to matching thread. You just need to cut and sew. The instructions are well written- perfect for a beginner sewer if you're thinking about trying some clothes making for yourself or your kids. The only modification I made was to use an invisible zip instead of the regular zip that came with the kit. I liked the way they joined the lining to the facing- not how I usually do it, but it was so easy and such a neat finish I may well do that for future skirts. The only thing I don't like is that the cotton lining is very clingy to my winter stockings, but it will be cool and comfortable when I'm wearing it with bare legs come springtime.
