A loves to take her hat off. As do many babies I suppose. With the result that we lost the only sun hat that fit her this week, somewhere around near the Botanic Gardens, despite the chin strap. Thankfully it wasn't a handmade one, just a hand-me-down.
Of course, being the crafty mum that I am (or perhaps frugal nutcase, or even sewing addict, as you prefer), I sat down at the machine that evening and whipped up a new one. Nicole Mallalieu's fantastic pattern (Really, it is fantastic) doesn't include a chin strap, so I will have to add one pronto, before it goes missing too (Unsurprisingly, A doesn't particularly like keeping this one on either).
And while I'm mentioning hats, here's another one I finished a little while ago. A little larger cap to replace the little cap that was too little. Although given that the weather has moved out of winter mode (if not entirely into summer mode) I don't think it will be getting worn anytime soon, and by next year she'll probably be too big for it and will never get to wear it.
At least it won't get lost I suppose.

Great hats!
ReplyDeleteit was so lovely to meet you in person at the library! It totally made my day xx it was nice to have a friends smiling face to look at while i fumbled around
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, crafty nutcase. There is something satisfying about out being able to make your own hats. And it is, arguably, easier than dragging everyone down to the shops to buy a new one.
